Meet the Staff: Richard

If you've spent any time with us at JHAI - as a client, as a customer in the shop - you know that Susan and Richard keep things running as smooth as possible. But what else do you know about them? Take a look in our first installment as we highlight our office manager, Richard.

Hometown: Jayess, MS

Years at JHAI: 1 ½

How did you get started in the design world?
I’ve always had an innate flair for color, décor, architecture, and spatial arrangement.

If you could pick any style for your own home, what would it be?
Modern eclectic

Where do you find design inspiration?
I find inspiration in the “ordinary” things around me in everyday life, people I meet, long walks, nature, and bad design.  Daydreaming and listening to music help.  As far as mainstream media sources, there are a few which have my devotion including Houzz, dwell, Elle Décor UK, and pantonista.com, of course!

What is a project you worked on that you were proud of? What made it so special?
Selfishly, my proudest and most recent project is that of my personal home patio space.  Literally creating a zen area from a picture in my mind’s eye (with much support and elbow grease from my partner) has been most rewarding and makes all the blood, sweat, and tears worthwhile.  Living with a happy client is icing (Italian cream cheese) on the cake.

Favorite item currently in the store?
Black/Gold Bull’s Eye Ashtray by Waylande Gregory Studios

What do you love most about working at JHAI?
Working in an environment that offers constant exposure to design creativity located in the epicenter of Fondren - Jackson’s playground for dreamers.

Favorite Fondren restaurant?
Walker’s Drive-In
